A sharp, modern burn away cake finished in deep matte black with a piped ruffle border around the top edge. A round edible printed disc sits on the surface, lettered to order, and it is made to be lit so that it burns away and reveals a second printed image or message hidden underneath. Silver and white sugar pearls, slim silver batons and fine gold and silver strands are scattered in loose clusters down the sides, and the cake is presented on a gold mirror board with a hand lettered plaque at the front. The burn away layer uses an open flame, so it should be lit by an adult, kept clear of anything flammable, and the ashes removed before the cake is cut.
